Maundy Thursday

Remembering the last supper Jesus shared with his disciples, we met to share a meal as he did.

His meal was a Passover celebration, which the Jews hold every year to recall that moment in their history when they escaped from slavery in Egypt. The Christian church continues this tradition, adding its own slant in celebrating our freedom given by the death and resurrection of Jesus.

So our meal contained elements of the Jewish Passover as well as the Christian Holy Communion.

The evening finished in the church, when all the decorations were stripped out, leaving a bare building for our Good Friday remembrance.
