Autumn Fair and Model Railway Exhibition

Firework night saw our autumn fair in action with, as usual, a good selection of stalls to tempt the pennies from people’s pockets in aid of the church. We were pleased to see a good group of people as Marc Palmer, from our sponsor the Co-operative Funeral Care, performing the opening ceremony. Then business began, with lots of interesting things to buy.

The inner person’s needs were also met with a thriving trade in bacon butties and home-made soup, prepared by our chef Andy.

The children delighted in having their faces decorated by our make-up artist Kirsty.

The other part of the day was the wonderful display of model railway layouts in the church itself. It seems that only model trains can get our vicar on his knees in church!

It was also a special day for one of the members of Syston Model Railway Club. Lee Palmer finished his service as funeral director for the Co-op (passing the baton on to his son, Marc) and becomes the engine repairer for Bachmann Europe plc, makers of model locos and rolling stock. Chris presented him with a model hearse to mark the occasion.
