Harvest Thanksgiving

Creator God, you made the goodness of the land, the riches of the sea
and the rhythm of the seasons;
as we thank you for the harvest, may we cherish and respect this planet
and its peoples, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

That was our prayer as we gave thanks for the harvest. The church was decorated with things of beauty:

while our harvest gifts, sent later to the Welcome Project, showed how God and people together can feed the world.

Talking of feeding, we did just that at our harvest lunch…

…which was enjoyed by the young and the not so young alike.

In the afternoon, some of us tried our hands at crafts – from making crosses from plastic strips

to very ancient skills from Viking and Saxon days – as the vicar attempts here with Saxon weaving!

For a quieter occupation a computer was on hand to do a bit of family history.
