St Peter’s Summer Festival Goes Foodie!

The 2010 Summer Festival took Food as its theme, and went down a storm.
We got off to a good start, with bright sunshine that lasted the whole day. (The previous 2 or 3 festivals have been wet.) We had invited a celebrity to open it – Braunstone resident Paige Murray (16), who was Leicester’s honoured Citizen of the year 2009/10. She mentioned in her speech her passion for bringing sporting opportunities to disabled young people.

Several food stalls were there (including English cream teas and Caribbean curry), but the most atmospheric was the Lesta-Zim BBQ – you could smell it everywhere, and the taste was delicious!

By the way, it’s still not too late to send in your recipes for the Braunstone Recipe Book…

All in all it was a brilliant community-building event, with old friends and new coming together and having a great day out.

Angelina Lang did some face-painting, and some of the children were so well disguised, they nearly got lost!
