Palm Sunday – the Start of Holy Week

On the first Palm Sunday Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. The crowds cut branches off the palm trees and spread them in front of him – a sort of “green carpet” to welcome their King. But a few days later, they were calling for his blood…

Our Parish Eucharist reflects both these parts of the story. We begin in the Hall, and march round the outside of the church, carrying palm crosses and singing God’s praises. But the mood changes – we read the whole story of Jesus’ suffering and death, as told us by St Luke.

Our guest preacher today, and all the way through Holy Week, will be the Venerable Richard Atkinson, Archdeacon of Leicester, former Chair of the Braunstone Community Association and a good friend of ours.
