Model Railway Show “The Best Yet”
St Peter’s put on its third Autumn Fair and Model Railway Exhibition on November 7th 2009, and everyone said it was the best yet.
The seven layouts ranged from Brant and Pennie Hickman’s Abingdon, on its last outing before retirement, to Dave Westwood’s Marsh Chipping, enjoying its first ever exhibition.

The show was sponsored by Co-op Funeral Services, and our local Co-op funeral director Pam Sheppard not only opened the show, she spent the day operating Kirkagnes, a remote moorland station modelled by Chris Burch.

The show attracted over 200 visitors, and (after costs, many of them met by our generous sponsor) we raised over £1200 to help the work of St Peter’s. Chris Burch (train-mad vicar) said afterwards, “The railway modellers enjoyed it so much, they all want to come back next year. I’ve got more layouts than I can fit in!”
Several members of Syston Model Railway Society came to help, and the church was soon clean and tidy afterwards for Remembrance Sunday the following day.
