Church Tower Roof Finished!

The repairs to the tower of St Peter’s church roof have been completed just in time for Christmas.
On a sunny morning, Wednesday the 17th December, the roofers were on site early.

They had ordered a new gold-plated weathercock, as the old vane was too big and had forced the supports to move. (A cock is appropriate to St Peter – even though it was not his finest hour!)

The cock was hoisted up to the roof…

…and fixed into place. No, he isn’t praying up there, he’s fastening the flashing into place!

It’s a job well done. Now to get the scaffolding down…
