Easter Services

On the Saturday before the first Easter, it all went quiet, as Jesus’ body rested in the tomb…

But during the night, Jesus was raised to life again – a new life that nothing could ever threaten or destroy.  Jesus has defeated death and evil, and shares his victory and his new life with us.

Easter Eve Service

The Easter celebration started for us on Saturday evening, with a bonfire outside the church door.  We blessed and then lit the Easter candle, took it into the church, and shared its light with each other – just as Jesus shares his risen life with us.

After Bible readings and a talk from Canon Mike Harrison, we baptised a new member of St Peter’s into Jesus’ family.

Then we prayed for the church and world, and went home quietly, to wait for the rest of the celebration on Easter Sunday morning.

Easter Day

The church was so full, we ran out of service booklets!  When we sang the Gloria, everyone had to shake a rattle or bunch of keys, to make as much noise as we could.  Even the vicar got in on the act…

During the Thanksgiving Prayer (over the bread and wine) the children came to see what went on up at the front.

Then, after the singing was over, the children went out for an Easter Egg hunt round the churchyard.
