Young People on Canal Trip – Saturday 6th October 2007

St Peter’s was invited to take a group of young people on a canal boat – the first such activity for several years.

The trip was organised by Ann Murphy, pioneer minister for Leicester Diocese. A keen boater herself, Ann made it possible for us to enjoy a whole day together on the canal boat “Northeaster”.

Highlights of the day included – learning how to manage the lock gates, having a go at steering the boat (leading to some “willow encounters” and one very prickly “hawthorn moment”!) and the quiz which included having to “talk to someone who is a grandmother”. We apologise to everyone on the canal that day who was asked out of the blue, “Are you a grandma?”
