Chris and Roz’s last Sunday
It was a sad time when we had to say farewell to Chris and Roz, as Chris retires from our parish.
In the morning, at our usual parish eucharist, both shared the sermon, reminding us of the achievements over the past years.
In the afternoon we celebrated a special Choral Evensong, with the clerical choir, Octave, supplemented with some of Chris’ relations. They led the hymns and sang the psalms and canticles.
We were supposed to have Bishop Tim with us, but as he was prevented by other responsibilities, Bishop Christopher did the honours, and preached the sermon.
In addition ot the usual St Peter’s congregation many others came to pay tribute to Chris and Roz’s ministry.
By the look of, Chris was very pleased with his final service….
Afterwards, in the Millenium Hall, the usual spread of food and drink which everyone enjoyed.
Our deputy PCC chair, Pat, expressed all of our feelings as she thanked both Chris and Roz for all that they had done for St Peter’s and the community of Braunstone. Flowers were presented to Roz and a cheque for them both – to be spent, perhaps, on a barbeque in their new home.
Chris then expressed his thanks…
… and then the happy couple cut the cake!
We all want to say a big thankyou to them both for all they have brought to Braunstone and St Peter’s. May your retirement we long and happy!
