Mothering Sunday

The fourth Sunday in Lent is traditionally the day we particularly remember the love and care of our mothers. At our family service we thought about light and dark in two stories from the bible – the story of Moses being left in the bullrushes, and the conversation Jesus had with his mother when he was being crucified, entrusting her care to the disciple whom he loved. We were reminded that in both light and dark times, God is alongside us, ready to share both joy and suffering. The children were busy making a stained-glass window showing a candle bringing light.
